Breslau Rec Association Needs Your Help!

As we plan for 2010 and our gymnasium has become a reality, there are more opportunities than ever to volunteer with Breslau Recreation Association as our responsibilities will expand to beyond what’s in the park.

There are many ways to serve besides being an official board member, although we need people to volunteer there as well!
Please have a look at the list below and check off what you would be interested in - feel free to check off more than one!
Whoever is heading up that initiative will then get back to you to form a smaller working group.

1) Being a board member – chaired by the current President Responsibilities including monthly meetings, making decisions on programs and how money is spent, etc.
Currently we have the following openings:

2) Help with the programming for the new Community Centre - chaired by Lisa Nadon We need people to help develop the programming, to take calls from both those people who are interested in running a program as well as those who want to take programs, etc.

3) Help with the grand opening event for the Centre – chaired by Loretta Dunn We will have a big event to celebrate this milestone so we’ll needs lots of bodies to help make it happen and ensure that everyone in the community is invited and involved.

4) Help with the ongoing fundraising for the centre – no chair for this currently We will need to have a series of smaller events throughout the year and one big event per year (we’d like to bring back Casino nights) so we’ll needs lots of bodies to help make it happen and ensure that everyone in the community is involved.

5) Help with the maintenance/being a key holder for the centre - no chair currently We will need to have a number of people who help to clean up after events and also open the centre for classes and lock up after.

6) Look after the gardens and annual clean up day – no chair for this currently
a) We have a number of perennial flower beds in the park that aren’t maintained as part of the regular park maintenance. Most of the beds could you use the attention of someone who loves gardening throughout the spring, summer and fall.

b) We have for the past three years been holding an annual spring clean up of the park (picking up garbage, cleaning out dead leaves from the flower beds and fences, etc.) so we are looking for someone to lead this every year and get others involved in the clean up.
