Breslau's Annual BBQ and Casino Night was a GREAT Success this year again! The afternoon was filled with activities for the family:
We had a Jump Castle for the kids to tire themselves out in,
Kids of all ages had fun in their own age category with a Candy Hunt for buried treasure in a pile of Hay ... (No, no-one found the needle)
All afternoon and into the evening BBQed Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and Sausages (from our local Dettweillers Sausages) were served up for all,
Kids and adults were able to play and get pointers from The Chess Express, a kids chess organization. (And for part of the time, our own 10 yr. old Justin McDonald took on all comers in a simultaneous exhibition ... Justin played up to 6 opponents at the same time)
Kids were lined up all afternoon to get their faces painted for free!
The Maryhill Volunteer Fire Department was on hand allowing kids to see all over one of their trucks. Kids got to talk to the Fire fighters, sit in the drivers seat and climb all over the pumper.
And the highlight of the afternoon was a Monarch Butterfly release where several Monarchs were tagged and released to start their journey to Mexico. John Powers from Wings of Paradise was on hand to explain some facts and tag the butterflies for several audience members to help with the release. After the Daytime events, Many people stayed, (or returned) to enjoy an evening at the charity casino and used their winnings to bid during a live auction for the many fabulous prizes donated by many of the local businesses and individuals from our area. All-In-All, everyone had a Fun time! If you were there, we are sure that you agree, if you missed it this year, make sure you don't miss it next year! Special thanks go to all those that helped: Nancy Rebelo and Kim Reitzel the co-chairs of the organizing committee. Judy Zamin and all her helpers with the kids events. Jim Burton and his helpers with the BBQ. Roger Shantz and his crew with the Beer Tent. Charlie Jakl - the DJ (and for all his support for his wife Kim) Bob Rebelo for his support of his wife Nancy. All the countless others who helped make this event the success it was! |
